With years of experience working on indie and big movie premieres, whether it’s here in Hollywood, in New York or even in smaller towns, we thought we would share with you some things we learned to help you make your premiere successful.

1. Think outside the box. Most premieres feature a red carpet, velvet ropes, a step and repeat backdrop and display posters of the film presented but it doesn’t mean you have to limit yourself to this. Chances are you still have some props and costumes left from your movie so if, for examples you’re premiering a western why not having cowboys or cowgirls along the red carpet and even a couple horses, hay and some cactus? Customizing your red carpet arrival to the theme of your movie will definitely make it stand out and create a buzz.
2. Provide good food and drinks. It’s no secret that people love to drink and eat for free and, even if your movie is great, giving them some cheap food and drinks will leave a bad impression, which they will associate with your movie. So even if you’re on a budget, make sure to privilege quality over quantity. Once again, this can also be a great way to further impress your guests. If your movie is a western, serve your guests western-related food and drink (BBQ, whiskey, etc.)
3. Do your PR homework. Invite the press, invite celebrities and after the event use social platforms profusely to promote your event, which will create the buzz for your movie.
